Open Gate Ranch is 100% volunteer-powered and donor-funded. Every dollar you give goes directly to program access, horse care, and facility maintenance — so we can keep the gate open for everyone who needs it. You can also sponsor a rider or a horse directly, giving an individual or an animal a fresh start and a new purpose.
Open Gate Ranch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses the sport of Ranch Sorting and the power of horses to build confidence, resilience, and belonging — for veterans, youth, families, and anyone with mental or physical challenges. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Ride Alongside Us
We're 100% volunteer-powered. Whether you know horses or just know how to show up, there's a role for you at Open Gate Ranch.
Horse Handler
4–8 hrs/monthWork alongside our horses during program sessions — leading, grooming, and supporting participants on the ground.
Arena Crew
Event-basedHelp set up and manage the arena during Ranch Sorting clinics and events — cattle handling, gate work, and timing.
Program Assistant
4–6 hrs/monthSupport facilitators during Veterans, Youth, or Adaptive Riding sessions — no horse experience required.
Event Coordinator
Project-basedHelp plan and execute our community events — logistics, registration, communications, and day-of coordination.
